Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
What happens on my first visit?
All appointments start with a short health history interview and assessment. This is to understand the nature of the concern you are coming in with and to ensure that the hands-on portion of treatment is effective and specific to your issue, not just a general treatment. All treatments are customized to your body and your needs, never a generic massage.
Does massage therapy hurt?
Massage therapy can sometimes feel uncomfortable when we are working on tender or sore areas, but it shouldn’t hurt! Treatment should always be within your pain tolerance and practitioners should check in and adjust their pressure so you are comfortable. “No pain, no gain?” That’s not true! Speak up if you need more or less pressure applied.
What do I wear?
You can come to the clinic in whatever is comfortable. During treatment, you’ll undress to your level of comfort, but you will always be covered by sheets. Only the areas actively worked on will be uncovered.
What’s the difference between relaxation massage and therapeutic massage?
Relaxation massage traditionally is light pressure, soft and slow. The focus is to calm your nervous system so your body can let go of what it is holding on to. Therapeutic massage can also be relaxing, but the treatment is more focused on achieving a goal or returning the body to balance.
Do you do direct billing?
I direct bill to most insurers, including Telus and Blue Cross. However, bring your wallets in the possibility that direct billing cannot be completed. Clients are responsible for paying the fee and will get a receipt to self-claim.
What happens if I miss/am late for an appointment?
Clients will be charged the full treatment fee if cancelling within 48 hours of the appointment or for missed appointments including due to sickness or emergency. Appointments that start late must still end on time so please show up 5 minutes early.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes! You can purchase an e-gift card directly from the Seaport Wellness booking page or contact me via email.
